Starting to Come Together

Hello Reader,

Ever since we've decoupled world news from this newsletter, it's been a bit of a challenge for me to find my footing. Part of it is I'm putting pressure on myself to deliver the best product possible. What's good is, I know what I want to do and we now have the space to do it; so, when we're ready to do what we want it will hopefully be done at a high level and with preparation. Growing can come in different forms but capacity is also important, and having room for your growth.

Leadership Lessons - Cultural Fit

I was watching Ray Dalio, billionaire hedge-fund manger, give an interview about his career and latest book, "How Countries Go Broke: The Big Cycle". During the interview he and the host got into growing your business and scaling. On this subject and with respect to hiring the right talent, Dalio posed the question, how do you (the candidate) adapt to my culture?

Sometimes entrepreneurs and business minded people become preoccupied with profit. Profit is important and a critical indicator of whether or not a business is a business, but it's also a result. Businesses earn revenue by adding value to the marketplace. In your business dealings how are your centering your mission? How are you making it so what you have to offer is and remains valuable? When hiring in particular, because the purpose of an employee is to help in the execution of your vision, you should take into consideration how a candidate aligns with the attributes and conditions around and or necessary for you to deliver a high quality product and or experience.

Encouragement for Your Week

This week I want to encourage you to become specialized. You don't always necessarily need to do something different or make a bunch of adjustments. From my experience, being a generalist can be a dual edge sword. In today's world people are doing multiple things to stay above water. Additionally, it's a sound practice to be skilled in more than one thing. This being the case, the flip side is having a good enough understanding of several disciplines can diminish your credibility. Use other schools of thought to strengthen your main core competency but also fortify your main strength. Use what you know to help you get better at what you're good at, but also objectively speaking, get better at what you're good at. Lean into the core traits of your primary discipline and grow in your knowledge and application of your expertise.

To get all of the content we publish throughout the week be sure to subscribe to us on our various social media platforms.

Have a well orchestrated week!

All the best,

Hello Reader! I am happy to have had last week to allow myself to rejuvenate. I hope you were able to find rest as well. Over the course of last week, I found out that a friend and a family member are both getting married one day after the other. I'm only mentioning this because it's been heavy to contemplate. I"m just a little discouraged by the rate at which things can happen. Sometimes you can be aware of and or expect something, and still not be prepared for when that thing manifests;...

Hello Reader, Sometimes you leave things and sometimes things leave you. Mental, emotional, and material growth are mutually exclusive. Labor Day In recognition of Labor Day there will be no new content published the week of August 31-September 6, 2025. A reminder will be sent next week. Ken's Corner Among the things on my mind today and this week, so far, is the idea of if you love something you should let it go. It's a nice sounding philosophy but what are it's implications and is something...

Hello Reader, Over the weekend I learned about a concept that disturbed me immensely. That concept is "memetic desires." Memetic desires refers to a person's inability to individuate. A memetic desire is when a person takes on the desires of someone else. For example, let's say you have a goal or desire to travel and you tell someone or someone in your sphere of influence catches wind of your desire. all of a sudden that person espouses how they want to travel and go different places, even...
