Hello Reader,
I hope your 2025 is off to a great start. There is certainly some turbulence but nothing to be dismayed about. I wouldn't suggest not having a plan of action right now. There are people in the world who say that planning is a waste of time. I don't agree with that sentiment. Right now in particular is a good time to set the tone for the rest of your year. Knowing where you're going is how you get somewhere. Don't let 2025 be another year where you don't have anywhere to go, proverbially or otherwise.
Update from Ken
Linktree
I have a flurry of updates that I want to go over. Firstly, I have centralized where you can find some of my content. Life with Ken is a created concept by me, Ken. I value demarcation. Even though I created Life with Ken I want Kenneth Wyche the man to have his own space to be a man, unencumbered by business and similar contexts. The same is the case for Life with Ken. I want Life with Ken and my other business endeavors to have the freedom to grow and mature and become whatever they're meant to become, with or without me.
One of the first steps we took toward achieving this dynamic was creating separate social media channels for Kenneth Wyche and Life with Ken. Now I have localized all of my, Kenneth Wyche's, social media and similar content and platforms to one place relatively unassociated with Life with Ken. Visit my linktree where you can find all of my personal links and or projects I am spearheading and or am a part of, all in one place. With that, I also created a "behind the scenes" platform where you can get to know me more. My behind the scenes platfrom is designed for fun and is NSFW, so keep that mind. Right now I'm testing it out but if there is demand I may keep it going.

As of this week I've entered my Colin Kaepernick era. What's important about this for Life with Ken is what it means for you and how I plan to operate things for the foreseeable future. I am not going to go into full detail about what my Kaepernick era exactly means; if you want to know, read the full post linked above. Essentially, I want to commit to being myself and being a better version of myself every day and as often as possible. This revelation came to me via disillusionment I have been experiencing particularly in my professional life, but in other capacities as well. I am not going to shy away from doing the work I feel I am called to do or the impact I have a desire to have. In fact, God willing, I am going to do it even better.

This matters because just because you may not have or have yet to reach a certain goal, milestone, pinnacle, or the like, doesn't mean the desire or drive to do so dies out or extinguishes. Dreams don't die. Desires are divinely imbued and eternal in nature. If you have a goal that you haven't reached or that seems out of reach but that's what's in your heart, you can't give up, because the moment you give up, you stop living. Just because you are alive doesn't mean you are living. In my case, there are things I want to pursue that even if I'm being gate kept from them in some capacity, I still want them. I haven't been dissuaded from life. The devil has tried and he has gotten close to succeeding more than once, but I'm still here and I still want what I want.
I'm not inclined to make any promises at this moment in time but you can expect me to challenge myself and you via Life with Ken, to take things up a notch if not several notches. Again, I don't know the duration of this season, it could be short, long, or somewhere in-between, but I have an idea of the kind of harvest I would like to reap. If you find value in this sentiment and want to commit to something similar, I encourage you to have a vision for what taking a principled stance like this could look like in your life.

The following is some content you may find valuable to help you get through your week:
The good news about trial is that it also cultivates character. You can have an expressed desire, and accomplish that desire, but do so with character and maturity. Your desires are God given. “Des-ire” is Latin for “of-the-Father.” Something that is eternal can’t die. Desires don’t die, people give up on them. If you want to experience “special” in your life you must persevere towards that compelling future. Click here to read this article.
Acceptance is you finally acknowledging your new reality. This is when you learn to live with your new life. The adjustment may be difficult at first, but you learn to manage. Click here to read this article.
The common good or asabiyyah is the glue that holds the fabrics of societies together. This isn’t because you get paid for your work, it’s because you feel as though your work is actually contributing to asabiyyah. As societies grow increasingly prosperous two things happen; one, people who have wealth do what they must to keep it. And two, people who are not native to that society see that society’s wealth and want some for themselves. This dynamic erodes asabiyyah because the natives of a civilization who are not wealthy may struggle to find respectful paying jobs. Click here to read this article.
News Brief:
LA Wildfires
I just wanted to mention this story. I haven't been following it closely and when I have looked into it, there seems to be a lot of drama and poor takes. Los Angeles, CA, has been on fire for nearly a week straight with no signs of the fire letting up any time soon. According to USA Today the fires have burned over 23,000 acres. People have lost everything in some cases including their lives and the handling of the disaster has been nearly as significant as the disaster itself. California has no water. The state and local politicians don't know how and or where to disseminate information or resources. The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, is in the hot seat for cutting the budget to local fire departments, not having policies in place for controlled burns, and for going to abroad on a diplomatic trip to Ghana days before the fires started, while knowing that there was a concern that fires could break out. The trip to Ghana is uniquely egregious because more often than not mayors don't do diplomatic trips, it objectively doesn't make sense for them to.
There is a video floating around of mayor Bass being confronted by a reporter on the street and her not saying a single word for nearly two minutes if not longer. There is also a video of the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, being confronted by a Californian citizen who lives in LA, that lost their home in the fire, and he doesn't have much of any solace to offer other than he's trying to call President Biden. Then there is a conspiracy theory that certain individuals want the fires because the 2028 Olympics are being held in Los Angeles, where the fires are happening is prime real estate, and contractors need to start building. There are already plans for a smart LA. On top of all that there have been police reports and or statements that have said that at least some of the fire has been caused by arson. So, it's a mess and that's all I can say about it. I don't know what the through line is or what that aspect of this story even looks like. My heart and prayers go out to those struggling in Los Angeles right now. I hope they can get the resources they need. Another issue some people may have is insurance companies may not cover their losses.
The United States Seeks to Clamp Down on AI Chips Exports
On Monday the United States government announced a proposal for rules to be established around access to Artificial Intelligence chips. They want to limit exports of AI Chips, specifically graphics processing units or GPUs, which are used to help train AI models. These rules would introduce a tier system where U.S. companies can export their chips up to a certain limit to other countries. Countries who are higher on the tier list can have access to more chips whereas those lower on the tier list can't. The goal of these rules would be to insure America's dominance in the AI space and diminish the role of her adversaries, mainly Russia, China, and Iran. I think it's a good proposal but more broadly people are skeptical.
One for sure concern is America's leading AI chip makers Nvidia and AMD manufacture their chips mostly in Taiwan. Taiwan, regardless of their political stance is part of China. It's U.S. policy that we would go to war over Taiwan but that is easier said than done. Investors are nervous over the proposal but the reality of this has yet to materialize if it will at all. This is an interesting story nonetheless, however, because it centers the impact of AI and its influence on a nation's national security. Again, at face value I'm for this because America is right to be forward thinking about what the landscape of the world will look especially as AI becomes more ingrained in society. The practicality of this proposal is questionable but creating the landscape for a stance to be taken is a noteworthy start.
Encouragement for Your Week
This week I want to encourage you to embrace your maturity and the responsibility thereof. There is a lot that can be said about maturation. Specifically, however, understand that maturity of character and intellect comes with responsibility. There is a modestly fair amount of 40+ year-olds on earth in terms of revolutions around the sun, who mentally, emotionally, and in character are infantile, prepubescent, or still in some form of early development. I don't think it's your responsibility to teach anyone unless you want to. That said, if you're the adult in the room from a character development capacity and not necessarily from an age capacity, then you do have a certain responsibility to the space you're inhabiting. Understand and operate in decorum. Advocate for what you believe. And empathize for those in need. This doesn't mean be a hero, it means doing your part to help others do theirs. And sometimes as one of if not the most aware person in the room, that means knowing what everyone's part is.
